ALABAMA — A California woman was killed in a crash Friday night in Conecuh County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
Authorities identified the victim as 72-year-old Virginia L. Preciado of Daly City, California. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash happened shortly after 10 p.m. on Conecuh County Road 6 near Brushy Creek Road, about 10 miles northwest of Repton.
Troopers said Preciado was a passenger in a 2021 Land Rover driven by a 56-year-old man from Santa Clara, California. The vehicle left the roadway, struck multiple trees and then caught fire.
The driver was not reported to have life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division.
