
SOUTH CAROLINA — One person was killed and another injured in a semi-truck crash early Sunday morning along Interstate 77, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened around 5:15 a.m. on I-77 south near mile marker 16.
According to investigators, the semi-truck was traveling southbound when it ran off the left side of the roadway. The vehicle then struck a guardrail before colliding with a concrete support column for an overpass.
Authorities said the driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the front seat was transported to Prisma Health for treatment. The extent of the passenger’s injuries has not been released.
The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
