NORTH CAROLINA — A man is facing numerous charges, including several serious drug offenses, after leading deputies on a pursuit in Lee County, according to authorities.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said the incident began Thursday when deputies attempted to stop a vehicle for motor vehicle violations on NC 87. The driver refused to pull over, leading deputies on a chase along the highway.

Officials said the driver eventually pulled behind a gas station but became stuck while attempting to re-enter the roadway. Deputies then took him into custody without further incident.

The suspect was identified as 35-year-old Christopher Sean Tyson.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies reported finding fentanyl, cocaine, and marijuana. A K9 unit was deployed, which led to the discovery of a handgun along the path Tyson allegedly traveled during the pursuit.

Tyson is facing multiple charges, including trafficking fentanyl and cocaine, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession with intent to sell and deliver controlled substances, maintaining a vehicle for the sale of drugs, felony fleeing to elude arrest, reckless driving, resisting a public officer, and several traffic violations.

He was ordered held without bond.

The case remains under investigation.
