ILLINOIS — A 12-year-old boy died following an ATV crash Friday evening in Coles County, according to authorities.
The Coles County Coroner’s Office said the crash occurred around 5:45 p.m. in a rural area near Mattoon. The victim, identified as Jaylen C. Otto, was transported to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Officials have not released details regarding the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The Coles County Sheriff’s Office and the coroner’s office are continuing to investigate the incident. Authorities said additional information may be released as it becomes available.
