SOUTH CAROLINA — A man was shot and killed Friday night following an argument that stemmed from a social media dispute, according to authorities.
The shooting happened around 10 p.m. on McKowns Mountain Road in Gaffney, officials with the Cherokee County Coroner’s Office said.
The victim, identified as 54-year-old Tony Lee Byers, was found in the roadway after being shot during an argument with another man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said the two men had reportedly been involved in a heated discussion on Facebook earlier in the day, which investigators believe led to the confrontation.
No information has been released about a suspect, and it is unclear whether any arrests have been made.
The incident remains under investigation.
