FLORIDA — A man in his early 20s was killed early Saturday morning in a rear-end crash in Jacksonville, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred around 3 a.m. in the 7700 block of Merrill Road near Wedgefield Boulevard. Authorities said the victim was traveling eastbound when his vehicle was struck from behind by a Toyota Camry driven by a man in his late 30s.
According to investigators, the impact caused the victim’s vehicle to spin off the roadway and crash into a concrete pole.
Paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead. The driver of the Camry was not injured.
Officials said the crash marks the 68th traffic fatality in Duval County so far in 2026. The incident remains under investigation.
