MARYLAND — A suspect has been arrested after a middle school student reported she was abducted while walking to school Thursday morning in Cockeysville, according to Baltimore County Police.
Authorities said the student told officers she was approached by a man who claimed to be a family friend as she walked to Cockeysville Middle School. The man allegedly persuaded the student to get into his vehicle.
Police said the suspect then drove the student to multiple locations before eventually dropping her off at the school.
Detectives later identified and located the suspect, who was taken into custody. Officials said his name will be released following his initial appearance before a court commissioner.
In response to the incident, Cockeysville Middle School notified parents and guardians, emphasizing that the student is safe and reminding families to review safety precautions with children. The guidance included avoiding strangers, traveling with friends when possible, and immediately seeking help from a trusted adult if approached or followed.
Police have not released additional details as the investigation remains ongoing.
