Body pulled from river in Ohio, investigation underway

OHIO — Authorities are investigating after a body was recovered from the Great Miami River Thursday afternoon near Island MetroPark.

According to initial reports, emergency crews were called to the area of East Helena Street around 4:30 p.m., as dispatched by the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center.

When first responders arrived, they located and recovered the body of an adult woman from the water. Police have not yet released her identity.

Officers secured the scene as part of what they described as a sensitive and ongoing investigation.

Officials have not said how long the woman may have been in the water or whether foul play is suspected.

The Five Rivers MetroParks is also involved in the investigation due to the location near Island MetroPark.

Authorities say more information will be released as it becomes available.
