FLORIDA — An armed carjacking in Winter Park led to a police chase that ended along Interstate 4 near Deltona, according to authorities.
The Winter Park Police Department said the incident began at a location on Aloma Avenue, where a vehicle was taken during the armed carjacking.
Law enforcement, including the Florida Highway Patrol, pursued the vehicle onto I-4, where the chase continued until about mile marker 112 near the DeBary-Orange City area.
Officials said the vehicle was eventually stopped and the driver was taken into custody.
A heavy police presence remained on I-4 eastbound near Deltona as authorities investigated the incident. Initially, all lanes were shut down, but a left lane and shoulder lane have since reopened.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional details have not yet been released.
