INDIANA — A woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle early Wednesday morning in Fort Wayne, according to police.
The Fort Wayne Police Department said the crash occurred around 1:40 a.m. in the 200 block of East Rudisill Boulevard, near Baba’s Steak and Lemonade.
Investigators say an SUV traveling eastbound hit the woman as she attempted to cross the street. When officers arrived, they found her lying in the roadway with life-threatening injuries. She was taken to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Police say the driver of the SUV fled the scene, and no description of the vehicle has been released.
Authorities are continuing to gather evidence and review surveillance footage from nearby businesses. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
