PENNSYLVANIA — One person was killed in a crash involving a car and a tractor-trailer Thursday night on Interstate 78, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.
The crash occurred in the eastbound lanes near mile marker 54, between the exits for Route 100 and Route 222.
Authorities said the Lehigh County coroner was dispatched to the scene just before midnight. A 22-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the coroner’s arrival. His identity has not yet been released.
Police said the driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the crash.
The eastbound lanes of I-78 were closed for several hours while crews responded and investigated, but the roadway has since reopened.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
