
MICHIGAN — A 78-year-old pedestrian was killed Tuesday evening after being struck by a vehicle in Cannon Township, according to authorities.
The Kent County Sheriff’s Office said the crash occurred around 7:20 p.m. on April 21 along Nine Mile Road NE, west of Young Avenue.
When deputies arrived, witnesses were performing CPR on the man before emergency medical personnel took over life-saving efforts. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials said the driver of the minivan involved remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
The victim’s name has not been released.
Preliminary findings indicate that alcohol and reckless driving are not believed to be factors in the crash.
The Kent County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Unit is continuing to investigate.
