
VIRGINIA — A pedestrian was killed in a crash Monday evening in Alexandria, prompting the closure of a busy intersection as police investigated.
According to authorities, the collision occurred around 5:27 p.m. at the intersection of North Saint Asaph Street and Montgomery Street.
Police said a female pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
Investigators remained at the scene for several hours working to determine the circumstances leading up to the crash.
The driver involved stayed at the scene, police said. No charges have been announced.
The intersection was closed to traffic during the investigation.
