
SOUTH CAROLINA — One person was killed in a crash Sunday afternoon in Lee County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the collision occurred just before 12:30 p.m. on Highway 15 near Rockfish Lane. Investigators reported that a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe was attempting to turn into a private drive when it was struck from behind by a 2014 Chevrolet Sonic that was unable to stop.
Following the impact, the Sonic traveled off the right side of the roadway and crashed into a tree.
Authorities said the driver of the Sonic died at the scene. The driver of the Tahoe was transported to a hospital with injuries, though no further details on their condition were immediately released.
The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
