OHIO — A 19-year-old motorcyclist was killed Sunday evening following a crash involving an SUV near Chillicothe, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash occurred around 8:10 p.m. on U.S. 50 near Veterans Parkway in Scioto Township. Investigators reported that a woman driving a Hyundai Palisade was traveling eastbound on U.S. 50 and attempting to turn left onto Veterans Parkway when the collision happened.
Authorities said the motorcyclist, identified as Ryan Hayes, was traveling westbound on U.S. 50 when his motorcycle struck the left front of the SUV. Following the impact, Hayes was thrown from the motorcycle and slid off the right side of the roadway.
Hayes was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Hyundai was not injured in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
