Thousands without power in Michigan

MICHIGAN — Thousands of homes and businesses across Michigan are without power as of Saturday morning, according to the latest data from PowerOutage.us.

As of the most recent update, 7,117 customers were reported without electricity statewide, representing about 0.14% of the more than 5 million customers tracked.

The highest number of outages has been reported in Cass County, where 2,602 customers are without power. St. Joseph County follows with 1,366 outages, while Berrien County has 763 customers affected. Additional outages have been reported in Wayne County (652), Iron County (586), Allegan County (357), Osceola County (235), and Oceana County (198).

Utility providers are also reporting impacts across multiple regions. Midwest Energy Cooperative accounts for the largest share, with more than 3,300 customers without power. Indiana Michigan Power reports over 1,300 outages, while DTE Energy, Great Lakes Energy, and We Energies are also experiencing service disruptions.

Michigan ranks among the states with the highest number of outages nationwide.

Restoration efforts are ongoing, and no estimated timeline has been provided for when all customers will have power restored. Residents are urged to report outages to their utility providers and to stay clear of downed power lines.
