Part of I-74 in Illinois shut down due to repairs

ILLINOIS — Eastbound lanes of Interstate 74 in Knox County have been closed as crews work to complete emergency repairs on a bridge over the Spoon River.

According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, the closure is due to urgent pavement repairs needed on the bridge deck. Officials have not confirmed whether the damage is related to storms that moved through the area Friday evening.

Traffic is being detoured to U.S. Route 150 while the work is underway. Drivers traveling through the area should expect delays and are advised to plan for additional travel time.

Officials said repairs are expected to be completed by Wednesday, weather permitting, at which point the interstate is expected to reopen.

Motorists can monitor updates on road conditions and construction through the Illinois Department of Transportation’s traveler information map.
