PENNSYLVANIA — A crash has shut down a stretch of the Pennsylvania Turnpike on Friday, causing significant traffic disruptions in Cumberland County.

According to turnpike officials, the crash occurred in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 76 at mile marker 219 in West Pennsboro Township. All eastbound lanes were closed between the Breezewood and Carlisle exits, and heavy delays were reported in the area.

Authorities said westbound lanes were also temporarily shut down to allow an air medical helicopter to land at the scene. Those lanes have since reopened.

The extent of injuries from the crash has not been released.

Officials are urging drivers to expect delays and seek alternate routes if possible. The incident remains under investigation.
