GEORGIA — A pedestrian was struck and killed late Wednesday night on Pio Nono Avenue, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the crash occurred just after 10 p.m. at the intersection of Ell Street. Investigators reported that a 25-year-old driver was attempting to move into the center lane to avoid another vehicle turning right onto Pio Nono Avenue from Ell Street when the collision occurred.
The vehicle struck 57-year-old James Milburn Evans Jr., who was walking in the roadway and was described by officials as wearing dark clothing at the time of the crash.
Evans was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.
No other injuries were reported in connection with the incident. Authorities said the crash remains under investigation.
