OHIO — Police are investigating two separate shootings that occurred overnight Tuesday in the city, leaving two people seriously injured and one man facing charges.
According to a press release, officers responded around 2 a.m. to a home in the 2200 block of Northwest Boulevard. When police arrived, they found two victims suffering from serious injuries. Both were taken to a hospital for treatment.
The area was secured with crime scene tape as officers collected evidence from the home and surrounding yard. As of Tuesday morning, police said they have not identified any suspects in connection with that shooting.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Michael Altiere at 330-841-2749.
Around the same time, officers also responded to a separate shooting at a Sunoco gas station in the 800 block of Market Street, about a mile and a half away from the first scene.
Police said the second incident is not believed to be connected to the shooting on Northwest Boulevard.
According to a police report, 26-year-old Makai Sims was identified as a suspect in the gas station shooting. Officers said Sims allegedly fired a gun at the location and was later detained at the scene.
Investigators reported finding three spent shell casings outside the gas station, as well as a live round inside the store near the checkout counter. A cooler inside the business was also damaged, and officers located a white jacket, a wallet and blood near the entrance.
Sims was booked into the Trumbull County Jail and is facing a charge of felonious assault. No arraignment information was immediately available.
Both incidents remain under investigation.
