MISSISSIPPI — A 9-year-old child has died following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Pearl River County, according to authorities.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol said the crash occurred around 7 a.m. on April 7 along Highway 43.
Investigators reported that a 1998 Dodge Ram traveling north collided with a 2009 Honda Civic traveling south on Salem Road.
Authorities said a 5-year-old and a 9-year-old were passengers in the Civic, along with the driver. All are from Picayune.
The two children and the driver of the Dodge Ram were transported to a hospital with injuries. Officials said the 9-year-old later died at the hospital.
The driver of the Civic and a passenger in the Dodge Ram were not injured.
The crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
