MISSISSIPPI — A man was shot and killed early Sunday at a lounge in Holly Springs, according to police.
The Holly Springs Police Department said 22-year-old Deandre Jeffries, of the Waterford community in Marshall County, was fatally shot in the chest at CJ’s Lounge on North Memphis Street around 12:30 a.m.
Authorities said officers are reviewing surveillance footage and speaking with people of interest, but no arrests have been made.
Witnesses told investigators the shooting occurred during a gathering at the lounge. One man who was present said people initially thought the sound was a balloon popping before realizing it was gunfire.
Jeffries was seen collapsing in the parking lot following the shooting, according to witnesses.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Holly Springs Police Department or the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.
