MISSISSIPPI — A Texas man was arrested Wednesday after authorities discovered nearly nine pounds of cocaine during a traffic stop on Interstate 10 in Harrison County, officials said.

According to Harrison County Sheriff Matt Haley, the stop happened shortly after 11 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-10 near mile marker 40 in Biloxi.

A deputy with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Division, along with a U.S. Border Patrol agent, stopped a black Jeep Wagoneer for a traffic violation. Harrison County narcotics investigators later took over the investigation.

During a search of the vehicle, investigators found about 8.8 pounds of cocaine hidden inside, Haley said.

The driver, identified as Norbert Henry Jr. of Houston, Texas, was arrested and charged with trafficking cocaine. He was booked into the Harrison County jail.

Authorities have not released additional details about the case.
