Thousands without power in Mississippi

MISSISSIPPI — Nearly 3,000 homes and businesses across Mississippi are without electricity Monday morning, according to data from PowerOutage.us.

As of the latest update, about 2,957 customers statewide were experiencing power outages. That represents roughly 0.2% of the more than 1.48 million customers tracked across the state.

Pearl River County reported the largest number of outages, with 1,548 customers without power. Hinds County followed with 558 outages.

Additional outages were reported in Claiborne County with 174 customers affected and Warren County with 146.

Several utilities also reported service interruptions. Coast Electric Power Association had the largest number of customers without electricity, with 1,555 outages reported. Entergy reported 879 customers without power, while Southwest Mississippi Electric Power Association reported 239 outages.

Officials have not announced a cause for the outages. Utility crews are continuing work to restore service to affected customers across the state.
