MISSISSIPPI — Authorities have launched a homicide investigation following the death of a woman in Winston County.
The Winston County Sheriff’s Department identified the victim as Rebecca Lyons, 33, of Neshoba County.
According to Sheriff Mike Perkins, Lyons’ body was discovered Friday morning inside a vehicle along Highway 397 near Deer Run Road.
Perkins said investigators believe Lyons was beaten to death.
A person of interest is currently in custody on unrelated charges, the sheriff’s office said. No additional details have been released as the investigation continues.
