NORTH CAROLINA — A woman was arrested after deputies said they found more than 100 grams of methamphetamine hidden inside a chocolate candy package during a traffic stop in Rutherford County.
According to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, investigators received a tip on Feb. 19 about methamphetamine being sold in the Ellenboro area. Deputies conducted several hours of surveillance at a home connected to the investigation.
Authorities said a vehicle leaving the home was stopped after committing a traffic violation. Deputies identified the driver as Tamiko Louise Simpson.
When investigators approached the vehicle, they reported seeing a large glass smoking pipe inside Simpson’s purse.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of two ounces of methamphetamine concealed inside a chocolate candy package on the front passenger seat. Deputies also said an additional ounce of methamphetamine was found on Simpson.
In total, approximately 105 grams of methamphetamine and a glass smoking pipe were seized.
Simpson faces multiple charges, including trafficking methamphetamine. She was given a $110,000 secured bond, according to authorities.
