Multiple homes and businesses without power in Mississippi

MISSISSIPPI — About 1,387 homes and businesses are without electricity across Mississippi as of Saturday evening, according to the latest outage data updated just minutes ago. The outages represent approximately 0.09% of the 1,481,085 customers tracked statewide.

Mississippi currently ranks third in the nation for the total number of power outages and fourth nationwide for the percentage of customers affected.

Out of the state’s 82 counties, Tippah County has been hit the hardest, reporting 954 customers without power. That accounts for 6.99% of customers in the county, the highest percentage in Mississippi.

Benton County is reporting 134 outages, followed by Union County with 86. Warren County has 49 customers without service, while Jackson County reports 36 outages. Lafayette County has 20 outages, Pontotoc County has 15, and Pike County has 14 customers without power.

Statewide, 27 utilities are being tracked. Tippah Electric Power Association (EPA) reports the largest number of customers affected, with 1,173 outages. Tippah EPA also has the highest percentage of customers impacted at 9.29%.

Utility crews continue working to restore service as quickly and safely as possible.
