Thousands without power in Virginia

VIRGINIA — More than 8,000 homes and businesses across Virginia Re without electricity as of Sunday evening, according to the latest outage data.

A total of 8,158 customers are reported without power statewide, representing approximately 0.2% of the 4,081,153 customers tracked.

Virginia currently ranks first in the nation for the total number of power outages and second nationwide for the percentage of customers affected.

Out of Virginia’s 132 counties and independent cities, Manassas City reported the highest number of outages, with 3,766 customers without service. Manassas City is also the hardest-hit locality by percentage, with 22.34% of its customers affected.

Other localities reporting notable outages include Prince William County with 980 customers without power, Gloucester County with 480, Loudoun County with 454, Charlotte County with 454, Shenandoah County with 378, York County with 358 and Arlington County with 206.

Among the 23 utilities tracked statewide, Dominion Energy reported the largest number of customers without power at 3,947. Manassas Electric Department had the highest percentage of customers affected, with 22.34% of its customers experiencing outages.

Restoration efforts were ongoing Sunday evening. Customers are encouraged to report outages directly to their utility provider and monitor updates for restoration estimates.
