
MISSISSIPPI — Twenty-five people were arrested and significant quantities of illegal drugs and firearms were seized during a coordinated weekend operation in Marion County, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office reported that on Saturday, deputies executed two search warrants and served multiple outstanding warrants connected to investigations into drug trafficking, sale, and possession. Officials said several unrelated warrants were also served during the operation, and additional suspects were taken into custody after being found in possession of controlled substances.
As the investigation progressed, deputies seized a variety of illegal drugs in different forms and amounts, including 244.82 grams of methamphetamine, 2.88 grams of cocaine, 2.46 grams of crack cocaine, 1.32 grams of fentanyl, 40 dosage units of methamphetamine/ecstasy, and 60 dosage units of controlled opiates. Authorities also reported that numerous firearms were recovered.
Those arrested face a range of charges, including felony possession, trafficking, conspiracy, and sale or transfer of controlled substances, with several charges involving offenses committed within 1,500 feet of schools, churches, or parks. Some suspects were also charged in connection with outstanding warrants and violations through the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
“This coordinated enforcement effort reflects the ongoing commitment of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and partnering agencies to combat illegal narcotics activity and enhance public safety within the community,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
Assisting agencies included Columbia Police Department, the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, the Drug Enforcement Administration Hattiesburg Post of Duty, and the Marion County District 2 Constable.
