Two people arrested following $1 million drug bust in Mississippi

MISSISSIPPI — A man and a woman were arrested following a large-scale narcotics investigation in the Jackson-metro area, according to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.

Bailey Martin, a spokesperson for the department, said the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, along with Capitol Police, the Mississippi Highway Patrol and Jackson Police Department, executed multiple search warrants on Feb. 5, 2026. Warrants were served at two residences in Jackson and one residence in Brandon.

As a result of the operation, agents arrested Sean King, 49, and Latonya King, 50. Authorities said Sean King was identified as a multi-drug distributor operating in the region, and the confiscated narcotics were estimated to have a street value of more than $1 million.

Sean King faces multiple charges, including aggravated trafficking of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and powder cocaine while in possession of a firearm; possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm; and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Latonya King was charged with aggravated trafficking of methamphetamine while in possession of a firearm within 1,500 feet of a school; aggravated trafficking of fentanyl and powder cocaine while in possession of a firearm; and possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm.

Authorities said items seized during the investigation included 146 pounds of methamphetamine, seven pounds of fentanyl powder, 65,000 fentanyl pills, 2.2 ounces of crack cocaine, 4.4 pounds of powder cocaine, six firearms, three vehicles, two Rolex watches, and $23,299 in U.S. currency.
