
MISSISSIPPI — Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves announced Friday afternoon that two additional deaths linked to the recent winter storm have been confirmed in the state.
According to the governor, the deaths occurred in Union County and Alcorn County.
Union County Coroner Pam Bowman confirmed the death of a 6-day-old infant. Bowman said the death occurred Tuesday at the New Albany hospital. The infant’s name was not released.
In Alcorn County, Coroner Jay Jones identified the victim as Frederick Marlar, 83. Jones said Marlar was found dead Thursday morning at a location on County Road 248 in the Glen community.
State officials continue to monitor impacts from the winter storm and have urged residents to use caution during extreme cold weather conditions.
