GEORGIA — Police in Hardeeville are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred early Friday morning.
According to the Hardeeville Police Department, the department is working with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division to investigate the incident. Police said the shooting happened around 4:30 a.m. near Exit 5 by a Shell gas station while officers were engaged in an active law enforcement response.
Authorities said both the officer and the suspect were transported to a local hospital for treatment. As of 8:12 a.m. Friday, police reported the officer was in stable condition. No additional details about the suspect’s condition were immediately released.
Police have asked the public to avoid the area as the investigation continues. Further information is expected to be released once it becomes available.
