One person dead following vehicle crash in Indiana

INDIANA — One person was killed Thursday night following a crash involving a semi-truck in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 in Hancock County.

According to the Indiana State Police Indianapolis Post, troopers were called to the scene at approximately 8:36 p.m.after receiving reports of an overturned semi. Authorities said the crash resulted in one fatality. The victim’s identity has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.

The crash occurred on westbound I-70 between State Road 9 and Fortville Pike, near the city of Greenfield. Emergency crews responded to the scene, and investigators began working to determine the cause of the crash.

As of late Thursday night, all westbound lanes of Interstate 70 remained closed while the crash investigation continued. Motorists were advised to seek alternate routes and expect extended delays in the area as cleanup and investigative efforts remain ongoing.
