MISSISSIPPI — A student at Columbus High School was killed Wednesday morning following a two-vehicle crash in Columbus, according to authorities.

Columbus Fire and Rescue and the Columbus Police Department responded to the crash on Highway 12 south of the Sand Road intersection, near the junction of Highways 12 and 50.

Officials said four teenagers, all students at Columbus High School, were traveling in one vehicle at the time of the collision. The front-seat passenger suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Baptist Golden Triangle, where he later died. Authorities said it is unclear whether the student died at the hospital or while being transported.

The driver of the second vehicle, an adult male, also sustained injuries described as life-threatening and was taken to Baptist Golden Triangle for treatment. His current condition has not been released.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and no additional details were immediately available.
