
MISSISSIPPI — A pedestrian was injured Saturday after being struck by an 18-wheeler in Richland, authorities said.
According to Richland Police Department Public Information Officer Allison McDonald, the crash occurred when an 18-wheeler traveling southbound on Highway 49 hit a pedestrian. The incident happened Saturday, though the exact time was not released.
The pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, was transported to University of Mississippi Medical Center for treatment. The extent of the injuries and the individual’s condition were not immediately known.
McDonald said it is unclear what led up to the collision. Investigators are currently gathering witness statements as part of the ongoing investigation.
