COLUMBUS — A 19-year-old woman died from gunshot wounds after driving herself to a Columbus hospital Monday night.
Columbus police received a report of a shooting in the 200 block of Highview Landing, near the Seton South Apartments, around 8:50 p.m.
Officers later found the victim, Taarah Griffin-Carmichael, at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. She had driven herself there after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite efforts by medical staff, Griffin-Carmichael was pronounced dead at 9:18 p.m.
Witnesses at the scene remained to speak with officers and assisted in getting the victim to the hospital.
Investigators have since identified the suspect as 17-year-old Dionte M. Carey and filed an arrest warrant for murder.
As of noon Tuesday, Carey was still at large.
