MISSISSIPPI — Police in Jackson are investigating two separate armed robberies that left two people injured on March 16, authorities said.
According to Detective Tommie Brown, officers first responded to a robbery on Longwood Drive. The victim told police he was bringing in laundry when he was approached by two men and a woman armed with weapons. The suspects took money, a cell phone and a wallet.
During the incident, a relative of the victim came outside the home and was shot by one of the suspects. The relative was transported to a local hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.
A second armed robbery occurred later that day in the 1800 block of Kenmore Drive. Police said the victim was standing outside near his vehicle when a man approached him with a handgun.
The suspect demanded the victim’s belongings, struck him in the back of the head and shot him once in the arm. The victim’s wallet, which contained a large amount of money, was taken before the suspect fled the scene in a gray sedan.
The victim in the second robbery was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The incidents remain under investigation.
