PEPPER PIKE — A wrong-way crash on Interstate 271 early Monday claimed the lives of two drivers, according to the Pepper Pike Police Department.
The collision occurred shortly after midnight near Chagrin Boulevard when a 2017 Toyota Tundra, traveling southbound in the northbound lanes, collided with a 2024 GMC Truck.
One of the vehicles caught fire as a result of the crash.
Police identified the drivers as Curtis Houston, 29, of Garfield Heights, and Henry Banks IV, 32, of Bedford Heights.
Authorities confirmed that Houston was the wrong-way driver.
The crash forced the closure of the northbound lanes for several hours as emergency crews worked to investigate and clear the scene.
