OHIO — Authorities have identified two men who died in separate shootings in Akron over the weekend.
The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office reported that Mashoure Snyder, 36, of Akron, was killed early Saturday morning following a fight in the Cascade Valley neighborhood.
Police responded to the 500 block of Carpenter Street at about 3:15 a.m. and found Snyder lying in a parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds.
According to investigators, an altercation involving two to three men began inside an apartment and spilled outside, where an “older male” allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot Snyder. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 49-year-old man was taken to a police station for questioning but was later released without charges.
In a separate incident, 21-year-old Keion LaShawn DeGrate of Akron was found dead Sunday afternoon in Patterson Park in the North Hill neighborhood.
Police were called to the 600 block of Lucille Avenue around 3 p.m. and discovered DeGrate unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds near basketball courts in a grassy area.
Witnesses reported seeing at least one vehicle, possibly an SUV, leaving the scene after an unknown suspect fired several shots.
Both shootings remain under investigation.
