Snow to create slick travel conditions in Ohio this week

OHIO — Northeast Ohio residents should prepare for a significant weather shift this week as snow showers and freezing temperatures return midweek, according to the National Weather Service.

Today and Monday will bring mild conditions, with highs near 48°F today under mostly sunny skies and breezy southwest winds.

Overnight showers will bring temperatures down to the low 40s. Monday’s high is forecast to reach 50°F before a strong cold front arrives Tuesday night, transitioning rain to snow.

By Wednesday, snow showers are expected to blanket the region, particularly along I-90 and surrounding roadways.

High temperatures will plunge to the mid-30s, with breezy conditions creating a wind chill in the teens. Hazardous travel conditions are likely as snow accumulates and reduces visibility.

Drivers are urged to prepare for icy roads and allow extra travel time starting Tuesday evening.

Snowfall is expected to persist into Thursday, with daytime highs dropping to the low 20s and overnight lows in the teens. Thursday night’s forecasted low of 16°F marks the coldest temperatures of the week.

The National Weather Service advises residents to monitor local weather alerts and prepare for rapidly changing conditions. Those spending time outdoors should take precautions against the bitter cold.
