OHIO — Emergency crews, including the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the local coroner, responded early Sunday morning to the scene of a small plane crash in Howland Township.

The crash occurred around 7 a.m. along King Graves Road NE, approximately 55 miles east of Akron.

Police say a 911 caller reported hearing a loud explosion behind her home followed by flames.

The aircraft went down in a wooded area behind the residence.

Smoke from the crash site was visible on a weather camera at the nearby Youngstown/Warren Regional Airport.

Authorities have closed multiple roads in the area as the investigation continues. No further details have been released at this time.
