MISSISSIPPI — Vicksburg police are investigating after a man was found dead in a wooded area on Monday afternoon.
Officers responded around 1:30 p.m. on September 15, 2025, to the 4100 block of Washington Street near the Ameristar Casino, where they discovered a white male hanging from a tree.
The man was identified as 35-year-old Cory Zukatis of Brandon. The Warren County coroner reported that Zukatis was homeless.
His body was transported to the Mississippi State Crime Lab for an autopsy. Authorities said the incident is not connected to another death reported at Delta State University on the same day.
