Ohio gas station employee arrested for stealing customer’s personal information

OHIO — A Columbus man is facing charges after police say he used customers’ information to create counterfeit credit cards.

Alando Thompson Jr., who worked as a clerk at a Speedway gas station in Whitehall, was arrested in connection with a scheme involving the use of a handheld credit card skimmer to steal customer data.

Police say Thompson used the device on transactions made inside the store, with no skimmers found on gas pumps.

Over 650 counterfeit credit cards, dating back to July 4, 2024, were discovered during a search of Thompson’s home.

Thompson was released from jail on Feb. 26, 2025, on his own recognizance and ordered to stay away from the Speedway gas station.

Authorities urge anyone who may have had their bank card compromised or visited the gas station recently to contact Detective Kubinski at 614-237-6333 ext. 1247.
