
OHIO — Law enforcement agencies across Northeast Ohio are planning multiple sobriety checkpoints this weekend as part of a statewide effort to reduce impaired driving.
Cleveland – The Cleveland Division of Police, in partnership with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, will hold a checkpoint on Friday, September 19.
Solon – The Solon Police Department announced a sobriety checkpoint will be conducted Friday in the vicinity of Harper Road.
Brook Park – Brook Park police said an OVI checkpoint is planned this week, though specific details have not yet been released.
Summit County – The Summit County OVI Task Force will operate several checkpoints throughout the county on Friday night, September 19, into early Saturday morning, September 20, and again Saturday evening, September 20, continuing into early Sunday morning, September 21.
Sandusky County – The Ohio State Highway Patrol will set up an OVI checkpoint Friday night on Rawson Avenue between North Street and the US 6 Fremont Bypass. It will run from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will be accompanied by saturation patrols in the area.
Officials said the checkpoints are aimed at deterring alcohol- and drug-related crashes and remind drivers that impaired driving remains a leading cause of fatal accidents across the state.
