
KENTUCKY — The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for several counties in eastern and southern Kentucky, with heavy snowfall expected from Tuesday evening through Thursday noon.

Counties under the warning include Montgomery, Estill, Powell, Menifee, Rockcastle, Jackson, Pulaski, Laurel, Wayne, Harlan, Elliott, Morgan, Johnson, Wolfe, Magoffin, Floyd, Lee, Breathitt, Knott, Owsley, Perry, Clay, Leslie, Letcher, Martin, Pike, McCreary, Whitley, Knox, Bell, and Lawrence.
Expected Conditions:
- Snow Accumulation: Between 3 to 6 inches, with locally higher amounts possible in some areas.
- Timing: Snowfall begins Tuesday evening and continues through Thursday morning.
- Peak Snowfall Rates: Up to 1 inch per hour late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
- Travel Hazards: Road conditions are expected to be dangerous, especially during the Wednesday morning and evening commutes and Thursday morning commute.
Precautionary Measures:
Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel. If travel is required, officials recommend carrying an extra flashlight, food, and water in case of emergency.
