NEW YORK — A new round of winter weather is set to impact Western and Upstate New York beginning tonight and lasting through Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Buffalo.
Widespread snowfall will begin around 5 p.m. Monday, moving from west to east.
Forecasts indicate general snowfall totals of 3 to 5 inches, with higher amounts expected in areas east of Lakes Erie and Ontario due to lake enhancement.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Southern Erie, Wyoming, Chautauqua, and Cattaraugus counties from 6 p.m. Monday through 6 p.m. Wednesday.
A Winter Storm Watch has also been issued for Jefferson, Lewis, and Oswego counties, lasting from 7 p.m. Monday through 6 p.m. Wednesday.
By Wednesday, additional accumulations of 1 to 4 inches are expected across the region, with heavier amounts likely in areas prone to lake-effect snow, such as the Chautauqua Ridge, Boston Hills, and Tug Hill.
Travel conditions may become hazardous due to accumulating snow and reduced visibility.
Residents are advised to monitor weather updates and prepare for winter driving conditions.
