TEXAS — Two people were killed early Wednesday morning after their vehicle caught fire following a crash on North Central Expressway, according to the Dallas Police Department.

Police said officers responded to a single-vehicle crash in the southbound lanes of North Central Expressway near West Northwest Highway around 5:30 a.m. Investigators said the vehicle was involved in a crash and then became engulfed in flames.

Crews from Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. After the flames were put out, firefighters discovered two people inside the vehicle. Both occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said the cause of the crash has not yet been determined, and investigators are working to learn what led the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office has not released the identities of the victims.

The investigation remains ongoing.
