Forecasters expect 3 to 5 inches of snow across the region, with snow squalls possible Wednesday evening and overnight. These conditions could lead to rapidly changing visibility and snow-covered roads.

Communities expected to be impacted include Pittsburgh and the surrounding metro area, Beaver Falls, Monaca, Aliquippa, Ambridge, Butler, Clarion, Washington, Canonsburg, Greensburg, Uniontown, Latrobe, Murrysville, New Kensington, Lower Burrell, Kittanning, Indiana, Punxsutawney, Brookville, Sharon, Hermitage, Grove City, Ellwood City, Oil City, Franklin, Tionesta and Ford City.

Officials warn that travel could be very difficult, particularly during the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes. Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra time and use caution while traveling.

Motorists are encouraged to check the latest road conditions by calling 511 before heading out. Residents are also asked to report snow or ice accumulations to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh through official reporting channels.

The advisory remains in effect until mid-morning Thursday as snow continues across western Pennsylvania.
