SOUTH CAROLINA — One person was killed in a crash early Sunday morning in Hampton County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened at approximately 2:00 a.m. on U.S. 601 at Lena Expressway. A 2018 Nissan Maxima was traveling northbound on U.S. 601 when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.
The driver of the vehicle died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. Authorities did not immediately release the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
