NORTH CAROLINA — Deputies discovered human remains Friday while conducting a welfare check in northern Richmond County, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said they responded to an undisclosed location in the Ellerbe area. During the welfare check, deputies found human remains on the property, Richmond County Sheriff Mark Gulledge said.
Officials stated that the investigation is in its early stages. No address has been released, and authorities have not provided information about a possible victim.
The sheriff’s office said additional details will be released once the remains are positively identified and family members have been notified.
